Diabetes had become one of the highest mortality rates for quite a time now though not mostly because of the disease itself but because of its countless complications.
You acquire diabetes if your body cannot produce insulin or even if it does, it is not enough for the function of the body. Your blood sugar levels will surely increase thus the complications will start to surface one by one.
There are three types of diabetes;
TYPE 1 Diabetes – This type of diabetes is what you would usually call juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent. This type of diabetes occurs when the body is not capable of producing insulin. This attacks those under forty yrs. old or even as early as teen-age years.
When under this type, there is a need to be dependent on insulin to control the blood sugar levels.
The symptoms of DM type 1 are; weight loss, a very low blood pressure level, low body temperature and an increased heart rate.
TYPE 2 Diabetes – This type of diabetes is one wherein there is not enough production of insulin to control the blood sugar levels. But unlike in type 1, this can be solved by taking oral medications and doing some exercises and dieting.
The symptoms of DM type 2 are; frequent urination, feeling thirsty always, unexplained feeling of tiredness, blurred vision, sudden mood swings, nausea, irregular monthly periods and wounds that take so long to heal.
GESTATIONAL DIABETES – This type happens during pregnancy only. This though can be treated with proper diet and exercise. If left untreated, this may cause complications at childbirth like the baby weighing heavier than he/she should.
There are no known symptoms when it comes to this type of diabetes.
POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS;
*Blindness
*TB
*Amputation
*Kidney Failure
*Heart Conditions
*Nerve Damage
*Skin Conditions
*Alzheimer’s Disease
*Hearing Conditions
***Diabetes, now considered as a silent killer may hit you at any age and condition. Always watch out for the signs and have a regular check up. It is always best to practice a healthy lifestyle to prevent the onset of this disease. Try eating more of veggies, fish and fruits rather than meat. Do brisk walking or jogging to keep your body fit at all times thus making you less prone to acquiring this diabetes.***
